A programming language used by the bitcoin blockchain network, that is used to facilitate some of the network’s basic functions. It is designed mainly to lock and unlock bitcoins, and make them more secure from online attacks, hackers, and keep them secure in the midst of a transaction. It’s also designed to determine who the receiver of a bitcoin payment is during a transaction.
