Network Difficulty

A metric used to calculate how hard it is for a block of data to be mined, and therefore added to a blockchain. A high level of mining difficulty usually indicates a better quality of security for that blockchain network, meaning transactions there are safer. High network difficulty also means that it will take more computing power and energy to mine one block.
